How valuable is the name "Miller Park"?

Joyce Julius & Associates Inc., which specializes in measuring the scope of sponsorships across various media, has turned its attention to the value of the names of various ballparks around major league baseball.

Of the 20 title sponsored stadiums, CitiField in New York led the pack with an exposure value of just over $5 million.

Surprisingly, Miller Park was ranked 5th with an exposure value of $2.74 million. The Miller Brewing Co., now MillerCoors, pays the Milwaukee Brewers an estimated $2.06 million a year up to 2020 for the naming rights to Miller Park.

That would suggest MillerCoors is getting bang for its $2.06 million in annual payments.

Julius looked for mentions on local, regional and national television programs, major newspapers, and Internet news and features.

Comerica Park (Detroit Tigers) was second with an exposure value of $3.3 million.

The 20 MLB stadium title sponsors averaged 757 TV news references, 494 newspaper mentions and 7,727 Internet news appearances per venue for an overall exposure value of $2.1 million. The period of time the study was conducted was March 31 through June 30.
